The Strain

  • A thriller that tells the story of Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers, wage war for the fate of humanity itself.

Me: this is a great series.  Now, I might be a little predisposed, it is totally what I am interested in. Every scientist who deals with infectious disease wonders when Zombies or Vampires will show up. Yikes!

Let's get to blogging:

Spending lots of time in the pool.  And this is my pool in a pool.  Hook up  a hose and it squirts water.  All this for under five bucks. Under FIVE BUCKS.

Summer also means concerts at the Levitt.

We are celebrating thirty short years together.  A few more if  yu add in the years we dated.  What can I say? I am one lucky Cowboy.

Here is a breakfast from my Brother in Law in San Antonio.  Now he is one lucky Caballero.  Clockwise from the upper left corner: pastries from some little Pandera, red and green salsa, barbaco, tamales, and fresh corn tortillas.

That's me in there somewhere. Peek a boo.

Bean and cheese tacos, drowning in salsa and some fluffy scrambled eggs.

that is what fresh salsa looks like.

These are cheddar biscuits.  I hear Red Lobster makes the best but I'd put mine side by side.

Boo!

Classic.  Fluffy egg salad sandwich, with some pringles on the side.

I always order a side salad, always thousand island dressing.

Tried my hand at a desert pizza.  The dough was way too tough for my liking.  I need to figure that out.

Roasting peppers, that means chili renos are becoming.

There are two ways to make renos in this house.  The traditional way, and my Mom's way.  The traditional way makes a batter out of whipped eggwhites with the yoks added back in.  More about Mom's way later.

The traditional way also has a cooked simple salsa. You make it while your whipping those eggs.

The two come together.

Can't have too much guacamole.

Plate it up! Mexican rice, salad, beans if you have them.

I like mine with a guacamole tostado.

A simple desert.  Put some canned fruit in the bottom of a dish, I'm using buleberries, then pur a cake mix on top, put pats of butter all over the top and bake.  Easy peezy.
That's fresh whipped cream beside it. What's left.

Leftover peppers.

One of the regulars at the Levitt.

Prepping a big old pork roast. Get ready for some pulled pork.

I love the way this picture turned out.

Fried potatoes made from baked potatoes.  Damn good.

She ain't pretty, Miss Piggy, but she tasty.

I put slaw and red onions on my pulled pork sammie.

Fuzzy picture of some tasty quiche. One with spinich and red pepper.  The other with bacon and green chiles.

I like to take my biscuits and sweeten them up  I put blueberries in this batch and iced them up real nice.  Real nice.

Leftover pulled pork.  notice the pickled cucumbers and onions on the side.  The drink is called Going to the Movies.  Popcorn vodka and coke.

Scored some suite seats to the Ranger's game.

Come on, happy up a little.

That's better.  Much better.

Rangers scored in the first, again in the fifth.  Oh, playing the Dodgers. Damn if the Dodgers didn't score two runs off a homer top of the ninth.  Then, the first Ranger takes two strikes.  No balls.  Then, homerun! That's baseball.

Chicken in gravy over rice.  Peas and carrots.

Another way to eat chicken, baked chicken strips, roasted corn on the cob, and lots and lots of macaroni and cheese  The individual dishes have jalapenos and habenaros.  Hot, very hot.

The Pain sauce was a littel too much with the spicy mac.  Almost took my head off.

Okay, now for Mom's peppers.  The eldest likes it this way best.  Just four and egg batter.  Filled with lots of cheese.

Two kinds of enchiladas.  Red chili gravy with american cheese.  Spinish and white cheese with green sour cream gravy.

Father's day treats.

This is a front yard vegetable garden.  Everybody should have one.

My bedroom battle station.  I like to do my writing here.

Spaghetti and meatballs and a side salad.

Cashew chicken.

Just like my favorite Thai restaurant, a salad with a peanut dressing.

Couldn't get a decent picture of the sunset.  Driving to Fort Worth to See Guy Forsyth.

He is playing the saw, hard to see.

Selfie with my Bestie.

I go out on the balcony in the mornings.
